Get Out of the Waiting Room

This post has been a long time coming. God has put it on my heart since January and I finally gave Him enough time to show me what He meant.

This post is a follow up to the one before it, so go read Lack of Faith in a Hard Season!

I mentioned comparison in different seasons of life. It is especially hard to not compare yourself when you are in a waiting season, and you see others receiving the blessings you have been asking for for SO LONG.

One question that is kind of convicting is: what are you doing in the waiting?

Let’s look at it this way.

You go to this car repair shop because they have this offer for super cool, new speakers. They are offering them for free, but there is a wait time of anywhere between 2 weeks to 2 years to get them installed.

What are you going to do with that time?

You don’t want to just sit in the waiting room, right?

Maybe play some games on your phone, watch a show, or chat with some of the repair shop workers.

What if the wait is for 2 years?

I think we are so used to instant gratification, instant answers, and instant resources that our generation lacks patience.

Yeah, we can deal with 20 to 40 minutes of wait time, but when it gets to a month or two, we start to get frustrated.

My advice:

GET OUT OF THE WAITING ROOM

There is nothing for you there besides wasting time.

People waste years of their lives waiting and doing nothing, especially when it comes to the Kingdom of God.

We are constantly waiting for the next blessing, next blessing, next, next, and next.

We are NOT HERE for blessings. We don’t deserve them at all.

But because Jesus LOVES us, we are granted blessings and gifts.

Jesus wants to bless us.

So yes, He wants to bless us, but it is not our purpose.

Receiving is not our purpose.

Our purpose is serving – serving God, serving others.

We are given the best purpose: to bring people to joy, peace, abundant love, and hope.

We are to bring people to Jesus.

It is hard to do that in a waiting room.
