Lately, I have been coming to terms that I am in a waiting period. A not-so-fun, very frustrating waiting period.
It is hard to wait for something that you want so badly. Like a child with the Christmas present at the top of their list, the daily desire for coffee when you are struggling to stay awake, or food when you have not eaten anything all day and it is 3 PM.
As much as we all hate it, we are called to wait.
In the moment it seems extremely pointless, and it is easy to believe all kinds of lies. Such as:
You don’t deserve it anyways
It will never happen
I’m not as good as those who have it
It’s fine its meaningless anyways.
ALL LIES
When you dwell on those lies, you miss out on why you are in the waiting in the first place. No one is put in a waiting period and is perfectly ready to go into the next season. There are always things to work on and to learn. What part of the picture are you missing?
God says:
You are enough through me
I will provide
A Godly desire is to be admired, and is not meaningless
I was reading Isaiah 25:1-8 this morning, and one thing that stood out to me was verse 6. It says, “On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine – the best meats and the finest wines.”
As I was reflecting in my journal, this is what I wrote:
Oh, how good of a God is He who would remove death and sin for us at an ultimate price. He is perfect in faithfulness and does wonderful, specifically planned things. He is the one who expectantly prepares. He knows your needs and desires. He will not only provide but give you the best of the best. The Bible talks much of wine and is not the best, most expensive wine aged to perfection? Your waiting period is not a punishment. You are becoming a fine wine. You are not for everyone. You are an expensive, PRICELESS taste.
I know I am not the only one who needed this reminder, I pray that you would know your worth in the Lord. Also, that he would not allow anything that could not be used for good.
I challenge you, and myself, to pay attention to what God has been trying to teach you. Actually, I challenge you to journal every day for a week and answer the question: “What has Jesus taught me today?”
