As I am sitting here watching the sunrise, I realized that I am anticipating for the sun to come over the clouds. I am waiting for the beauty.
The good thing.
The whole reason you wake up at 6:15 to come see the sunrise.
Although, I think that that shouldn’t be the whole reason. I should get up early to be still because I think the morning is the quietest time of day. I should get up early to be still, especially since I know that whenever I try to be still I still have a million thoughts floating in my head.
It’s also as if I am rushing being still in God’s presence.
I have caught myself SO many times reading the Bible and thinking “Oh how long is this passage? maybe it won’t take me that long“, or I do not even stop to think about what I am reading. This causes me to not be able to comprehend and listen to what God is trying to tell me through his word; it means I am basically just reading to read.
As I am sitting here watching the sunrise, I am thinking about how life is like a sky.
Sometimes there are beautiful colors of pink, purple, orange, etc.
Sometimes there is a storm
Sometimes there is light rain
Sometimes there is a rainbow after a little or a lot of rain
Sometimes it keeps raining even more just when you expect the sun to shine through
It is so easy to want to rush time – to rush the sky – to rush life.
We all want the good things in life but have you paused to look around you in the storm and see the good?
I know that’s something I do not always do, because I am so focused on getting out of the bad – away from the clouds. Do you know what’s interesting about the clouds?
The sun is always behind them.
Even when you cannot see the sun, it is still giving you light and trying its best to shine through the clouds.
God is our sun.
He is always trying to shine on you and that can be very hard to see.
I know it is easy to rush things, especially when you are anticipating the next big thing. Is it possible to miss the next big thing by rushing?
My encouragement to you and to myself is to pause (be still) when you are in the clouds, try not to rush through the things around you and what you are feeling, and see if any rays are coming through the clouds.
I started writing this 10 minutes ago and said I was waiting for the sun to come over the clouds and it still hasn’t, but the rays are shining from in between the clouds.
Do not let the clouds take over your point of view; try and look for the rays in between them, and when there are no rays to be found remember that the sun is still there.
In other words, do not let darkness cloud your view of life and try to look for the rays of hope that shine through, and when it feels like there is no hope to be found, remember that God is right there for you to lean on.
